The artwork is an interactive sculpture consisting of six columns of light hanging at various elevations above the grand stairway at the Showplace Theaters, located at The Shops at West End in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Analysis

How are the Elements of Art (color, shape, line, texture, space, form, value) and the Principles of Design (balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, rhythm, unity, pattern/repetition) used in this artwork?
In this piece of artwork form is showed with the cylindrical artwork itself. Colour is shown with the light inside the cylinder. Value is shown through the darkness or brightness of the light. Texture is shown by touching the sensors that make the light colours change. And emphasis is shown by the lights moving and catching your eye whenever they change colour.

What grabs your attention in the artwork?
The thing that grabs your attention first of all is the fact that it is interactive. Second of all would be the fact that it is very bright and colourful and the closer you get to it the more you want to find out what it's all about.

What mood or feeling do you have when you look at this artwork?
When I look at this piece of artwork I feel excited and intrigued by the way the lights change and move whenever the sensor is touched. Also I feel very much a part of the artwork because whenever I touch the sensor the colour of the light changes.

Interpretation

What is the theme or subject of the artwork?
The subject of this artwork is to create an intriguing experience for theater-goers, where small gestures of touch translate to patterns of light emitted through an architectural way.

What is the artwork about; what do you think it means?
I feel that this artwork shows that anyone can be an artist or make something beautiful in their own way. Be it by painting, photography, etc.. It shows that everyone can be artistic and create artwork even if its with someone already created like Aurora Organ.

Why do you think the artist created this artwork?
I think that the Camille Utterback created this artwork to make the people interacting with it feel as if they are a part of it. To make them feel artistic and creative while experiencing it and maybe in some ways inspire them to go out and make their own piece of artwork to share with the world.

Judgement

Do you like or dislike this artwork?
I really like this artwork mostly for the fact that it is interactive. I feel that anything that is interactive makes you instantly more interested and intrigued by it and the fact that this is a piece of artwork makes it that much more interesting and unique. It's like adding another dimension to something that seems like can only be viewed or used in one way.

Do you think this is good art?
I think that this is very good art because it shows that art can go beyond what the artist themselves create. It shows that the people who view it afterwards can affect the art and make it their own in one way or another.

Do you think it is important art?
I think that in a sense this is important art because first of all, its getting the word out about the new kinds of artwork that are being created. It shows that artists nowadays are going farther than a pencil and paper or a paint brush and easel.
