Technique Ex. #1

1. Title And Description Of Technique Exercise.
- Justifying Physical Actions
- Your physical actions and movements on stage are tied to your objective(s) and the obstacle(s) to those objectives. Know what you want and what gets in your way.

2. Objective: What is it that you are going into the room to do? Why?
- The reason I am going into the room is to replace a light bulb that has stopped working.

3. Obstacle: What gets in the way of your objective?
- A not-so-sturdy chair and the risk of falling off of it and hurting myself.


4. Physical Actions: What will you actually do? List actions.
- Enter the small room
- Look up at the ceiling to find the dead light bulb
- Take off my shoes
- Kneel down and check the chair to make sure it is sturdy enough to stand on
- Stand on the chair
- Untwist the light bulb
- Put in a new light bulb
- Get off the chair
- Put my shoes back on
- Leave the small room

5. Inner Thoughts: What are you thinking about? Be connected to the scene with your thoughts in order to stay in the moment as opposed to getting distracted by the audience and the face that you are being watched. List inner thoughts.
- I'm thinking about the fact that I need to change the light bulb or else the room will be dark and there won't be any light for people to see anything. Also, I'm thinking that I hope I don't fall off the chair or that could end very badly.
